Sunday Apr 7th, Paris was cold and windy in the morning, about 30°F only. At 7:20am I took the Metro to Porte Dauphine where the Paris Marathon Finish would be, and the only place for gear-check bag to be dropped off , at the bottom of Avenue Foch near Arc de Triomphe. I have heard about Big Sur Marathon from running friends and never understand why all the hypes about this local race? Don’t we run in Monterey all the time? Pacific Ocean? Sure, big deal! Sat, Feb 23rd, I went outside of Tokyo to seek for some quiet “me time” and ended up doing an unexpected hike for couple hours. Who would have thought that journey to Tokyo Marathon requires hundred hours of training, thousand miles of traveling plus countless hours of losing sleep and crying one’s heart out?

Monday Feb 4th, the race packet for Tokyo Marathon arrived via postal mail, and I had very mixed feeling while holding it. I was standing in the post office mail box lobby, and feeling a little bittersweet about this white envelope.
